This week we are drawing inspiration from a mid aged green - Lichen No.19 by Farrow&Ball. This calm and muted green has a subtle feel to it due to its underlying blue tone, and is named after the ever changing, subtle colour of creeping algae, which ages stone so beautifully. Lichen is perfect for use in the garden where it feels at one with nature.

TIP: For best results, pair with Mid Tones Primer and Undercoat.

Colour Schemes

Lichen No. 19 works particuraly well with Traditional Neutrals, such as Slipper Satin and Lime white, due to their subtle green undertones, creating a soft colour scheme.

Lichen also works wonderfully as a darker accent to the delicate green Vert de Terre No. 234.

For a more contemporary feel, pair Lichen with dark & moody shades such as Off Black and Studio Green.

Here at Warings Lifestore we believe that you can never have too many cushions – it is the sense of comfort they bring to the place that makes them truly special. Thus, we have put together a few tips to help you choose the perfect type and colours of cushions for your space.

Generally speaking, interiors can be bold and confident, in terms of colour schemes and furnishings, or Scandi-inspired, featuring mainly neutral hues. So you can go either way with cushions, based on the basics of your interior.

            1. Colour co-ordination

TIP: Choose one colour and decorate with different tones of that colour.

One of the simplest ways to guarantee colour scheme perfection is to mix design but keep the colours of the cushions within the same palette. This rule is crucial to follow especially when using really bold colours; neutral base colour is easier to follow, but has the same unifying effect.

             2. Size and shape

Colour might seem like the most important feature of your cushions, but the truth is that size and shape will impact the overall look of your home just as much. For a uniform look, choose one of two shapes of cushions and create two symmetrical displays on either end of your sofa.

TIP: For a more relaxed and eclectic feel mix and match odd number of cushions in different shapes and sizes.

This week we bring to you a home interior inspired by floral hues. Floral purple with a teal edge is a trending colour combination, currently a top one on Pinterest, so taking inspiration from that and our colour of the week Farrow&Ball’s Vardo we decided to dedicate this blog on how to decorate your home using this timeless combination.

The teal blue colour looks beautiful when painted on woodwork as well as as a statement wall in any room. Why not update a cabinet, table or chair with a touch of paint, and contrast it with a neutral background? What's more, this colour works extremely well with darker shades like reds and greys.
