5 THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT AUTUMN

Friday, 29 September 2017 12:00:02 Europe/London

5 things we love about autumn

Autumn is undoubtedly our favourite season here at Warings Lifestore. Warm sweaters, the rain tapping on the window and lovely fall hues that fill the streets in the blink of an eye. It is clear that autumn brings a sense of cosiness and,  what's more, autumn aesthetics are just great to look at. Therefore, we decided to dedicate this week’s blog to the starting of the indoor season and share with you five of the things we just love about it.

throws, autumn, cosy, blanket, snuggle, cold

1. COSY BLANKETS AND THROWS

The first thing we love about autumn probably doesn't come as a one is a no surprise to anyone. As the temperatures are plunging, a soft and warm blanket become one’s best friend. Not only to beat the cool autumn breeze, but blankies are also perfect for snuggling on the sofa.

candles, scneted candles, lavender, cosy, autumn, vibes         2. SCENTED CANDLES

And speaking about snuggling on the sofa, our next favourite thing about autumn is candles. Creating a relaxing and smooth ambience, lighting a candle would light up the space and impart great frangrance into your home. Reading by the candlelight, wrapped in your favourite blanket, while smelling a faint smell of cinnamon - does it get more autumn-y than that?

   3. HOT CHOCOLATE WEATHER hot chocolate, autumn, interior, coffee shop

Right. We are on the doorstep of colder months, which means hot chocolate is A MUST. Find your favourite spot for a great hot chocolate, and you know what: get all the works! Cream, marshmallows, sprinkles… treat yourself! (that’s our sweet tooth speaking right there). As well as a treat, a hot drink would keep you warm while conquireing the daY

 rain, autumn, leaves,

 4. THE SOUND OF RAIN

Lots of rain is inevitable during autumn. The sound of the rain is a great addition to a cosy afternoon in, guaranteed to help you nap. But not so great when you’re outdoors, some might argue…

5. RUGS

Warm floor coverings are guaranteed to make a home feel cosier and more welcoming. Rugs can be a stylish addition to your home, by adding a bold statement to the room. While watching the rain drop and autumn leaves fall, having a rug can make you dream of a colder wheather........

7 Reasons We Love Autumn

Friday, 23 September 2016 17:05:14 Europe/London

With the autumnal equinox having been and gone, and that morning chill lingering for a little longer each day, it is safe to safe that autumn is definitely now upon us. But instead of trying to hold on to summer, and complaining about the drop in temperature, we're embracing all things that we lover about autumn here at WARINGS.

1. Candles

candles

Although it is perfectly normal to use candles throughout the summer, it just doesn't quite have the same effect that as it does in autumn or winter. As autumn approaches, swap out fresh linen and mown grass scented candles for something a little richer, and gently spiced, to create a truly warming scent throughout the home.

2. Throws & Blankets

throws and blankets

Throws and blankets are definitely one of our favourite things about autumn, especially when they're soft, cosy and occasionally fluffy! Perfect for creating a cosy autumn evening in filled with films and snacks!

3. Cosy Evenings

lights and lighting

With the nights drawing in, combine that with our first two favourite things about autumn (candles and blankets), then you've pretty much got an ideal comfy and cosy evening, which leaves only one thing missing - lighting! Creating the perfect light setting for the dark evenings is the final piece to capturing the perfect evening in, so investing in a lamp that is going to stand out and light up a room is so important! Why not add fairy lights for an extra special ambiance.

4. Comfort Food & Hot Drinks

hot chocolate and rocky road

Hot drinks and comfort foods are probably our favourite thing about autumn. Forget quinoa and salad, it's finally that time where we can drink hot chocolates, treat ourselves to a piece of cake, or a chocolate rocky road! And as for food, cafe WARING serves a delicious range of soups throughout the autumn and winter - not to be missed!

5. Halloween

farrow and ball Halloween pumpkins

Halloween of course speaks for itself - pumpkins and pumpkin carving!

6. Fires

log basket

To keep up with the theme of keeping warm and cosy, fires and wood burners are definitely one of our favourite perks of the autumn. So upload your throws and blankets from your wicker baskets, and load up with logs to create that real autumnal look.

7. Black Friday

With autumn's arrival comes the excitement that black Friday really isn't too far away, and will be here before you know it. So get saving for all the exciting deals and discounts that will greet you at the end of November - it'll be here before you know it!

5 activities to get the family out the house this summer

Thursday, 11 August 2016 11:11:00 Europe/London

With the summer holidays well and truly underway, we're thinking what we can do to get the whole family together, and out of the house.

1. Eaton Park has a great children’s play area, Skate Park, tennis courts and model boating pond, bowls, croquet, pitch and putt and even a few mummy fitness classes, making it one of our favourite places to take the kiddies this summer. There is also plenty of well-maintained space for all the classic family outdoor games, such as rounders, boomerang or even the super fun potato sack race gamesNot based in Norwich? Then just head to your local park!

2. Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery is set in a Norman Castle, with multimedia exhibits and galleries, dungeons, as well as imaginative special exhibits - all of which make for a great family day out! Why not let your little ones join in the fun, and dress up for the occasion – they’ll fit right in with our tabards, swords & Norman helmets!

And if your little ones (or even you) are into the latest craze, Pokemon Go, then we have word that one of the rarest Pokemon in the UK, Dratini, has been spotted hanging around Castle Gardens, just opposite Cafe WARING.

3. Café Waring After an exhausting morning out in Norwich Castle, why not pop by Café Waring and enjoy the view of the castle, whilst tucking into a delicious freshly prepared panini, and cake treat for dessert. There’s also a wide range of hot and cold drinks, including yummy summer smoothies! You can also shop our range of children's special and unique goodies in the store if you're wanting to treat your little one.

4. Norwich Puppet Theatre hosts a variety of touring puppetry companies from Britain and overseas, featuring the best of British and international theatre of animation that are perfect for all ages, and the family. Waring Store

Thursday, 7 January 2016 11:16:39 Europe/London

To all customers and followers, Please disregard various posts purporting that WARINGS have bought The Owl Sanctuary next door to our store - we are totally unrelated to this.

We are desperately trying to balance all the misguided negativity left last night on our reviews. Unfortunately The Owl Sanctuary our neighbours are closing down. Some misunderstood their post to read that we had bought the building and forced the closure. Which we have not. We just share the same commercial landlord. We have deleted all the negative and nasty posts but are appealing for help to restore our online review status by getting as many positive reviews as possible.

Any help in sharing this message is appreciated.

We have received many undeserved and negative reviews regarding this situation - please help us restore our position within this small business community.

Many thanks,

So it’s that time of year again – Christmas is coming around, and we’re trying to make our homes feel as wintery, and as Christmassy as possible. From something subtle like a tea light holder, to something less subtle like stag cushions, or a lampshade – there is something to suit every type of home this winter.

Our Zinc Tea Light Candle Holders would make the perfect addition to a mantelpiece.
